OFT has published a progress update on personal current accounts in the UK. It has monitored the market closely over the past two years and has seen many improvements. It wants to see final standards around opt-out of unarranged overdraft facilities and treatment of customers in financial difficulty who incur unarranged overdraft charges. It wants to see new products that give consumers better control over whether they get an unarranged overdraft. It expects to carry out its next review in 2012.
