In the last quarter of 2012, Ofcom published a number of statements and consultations with a view to clarifying the General Conditions of Entitlement. The statements are largely intended to address particular General Conditions and Ofcom’s approach to them, in order to assist stakeholders with compliance. These include: modifications to the wording of General Condition 17 relating to the allocation of telephone numbers; setting out Ofcom’s approach to the application of General Condition 18 relating to number portability; introducing guidelines for communications providers with respect to handling emergency calls; and initiating a consultation to review access to communications services for disabled people.
