The Administrative Council for Economic Defense - CADE has approved, on April 3rd, 2013, during the 19th judgment session, unanimously and unconditionally, the acquisition of 100% of Skype Global's capital stock by Microsoft Corporation.

This global acquisition reached countries in all continents, enabling Skype’s integration with services already offered by Microsoft. The acquisition will provide benefits to the users, enabling Skype free integration with Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail.

Another important innovation is that Skype's use will be extended to televisions and other devices, as Xbox and Kinect.

Elvino de Carvalho, the Reporting Commissioner of the case, concluded that Skype's market share in the internet communicators’ sector is not relevant. Consequently, the acquisition of the aforementioned company cannot harm the economic order.

Considering the importance and amplitude of the transaction, it was also notified in the United States, European Union and other countries such as Serbia, Russia, Australia, Taiwan and Ukraine.
