Ottawa – Senator Marie-P. Poulin, President of the Liberal Party of Canada, today announced the appointment of Greg Fergus as the National Director and Deputy National Campaign Director of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Mr. Fergus, who will assume these responsibilities beginning immediately, is a fluently-bilingual executive with several years of experience in politics and policy development in senior public and private-sector environments. He has served the Liberal Party of Canada in both grassroots and leadership capacities. As President of the Young Liberals of Canada, and then as Vice-President for Publicity and Communications, Mr. Fergus gained a unique insight into the operations of the Liberal Party’s volunteer national executive. This knowledge is rounded out by experience as a riding-level fundraiser, organizer, treasurer and as a riding association president.

Most recently, Mr. Fergus served as Director of Industry Practices for Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies.

“Mr. Fergus’ expertise will be a tremendous asset to the Liberal Party as we prepare for the next federal election,” said Senator Poulin. “He has a proven track record in leadership, consensus-building and strategic analysis.”

“Mr. Fergus has already made a great contribution to the Liberal Party, and I am confident that his dedication to the Party will serve him well in his new role,” said Stéphane Dion, Leader of the Liberal Party. “I am pleased that he has agreed to take on this significant role at such a crucial time.”

Mr. Fergus’ experience will also be instrumental in carrying out his new responsibilities as Deputy National Campaign Director. In this capacity, he will work with national campaign co-Chairs Nancy Girard, Mark Marissen and Senator David Smith – along with National Campaign Director Gordon Ashworth – to ensure the Party’s readiness for the next campaign.
