Advanced Voip Solutions Ltd (AVSL) – On 28 February 2016 the ICO reported that it had issued AVSL a "STOP" order for breaches of the PECR. The order requires that AVSL no longer instigate or carry-out unsolicited calls (including automated calls) for direct marketing purposes.
The Manchester based company were the cause of over 6,000 complaints and the automated calls regarded PPI, debt management, delayed flight compensation and mis-sold pensions.
It is further reported that AVSL, who were found to have operated the nuisance call business from a cottage in Sale, were not the only company associated in this particular operation. The independent regulator has issued enforcement notices to two other associated companies, Money Help Marketing Ltd and Preferred Pension LLP which generated leads from a call centre in the same town. A fourth company, The Review Experts Ltd, has been dissolved.
What action could be taken to manage risks that may arise from this development?
