In follow up to Monday’s post, two U.S. senators and others are urging Judge Mark Fuller of the Middle District of Alabama to step down from the bench.
The New York Times reports that U.S. Senators Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions, both of Alabama, believe that the public has lost confidence in Fuller, and that Fuller should step down.
U.S. Representative Terri Sewell, also called for Fuller’s resignation, comparing his actions to those of NFL players currently in the news for domestic abuse.
In August, Judge Fuller’s wife called Atlanta police from the hotel room where she was staying with her husband, and alleged that he had assaulted her after she accused him of having an extramarital affair with one of his law clerks.
Fuller has agreed to enter a counseling program that could lead to the expungement of the misdemeanor charge.
