The advent of technological advancement of communication devices and social media has made the public to become continually outraged at the “injustices” occasioned through alleged medical negligence. The existing regulatory framework for medical negligence has long been outdated and Nigeria is in dire need of a comprehensive reform that would cater to the needs of her 180 million citizens.
This report shall define the tort of negligence under the practice of medicine. Thereafter it shall provide an overview of the regulatory framework governing medical negligence in Nigeria. It will also, enumerate the measures provided to protect the interest of the consumers. Furthermore, the report will provide a comparative analysis with the systematic structure of addressing instances of medical negligence in the United Kingdom and France. Lastly, it shall propose recommendations for a way forward in Nigeria.
