Singles, plumbers and trade mark owners interested in new gTLDs may be interested in Sunrise Periods opening this week for several new domains.
Sunrise Periods opened on 26 November 2013 for seven new gTLDs. This is the time when those with trade marks recorded in the Trademark Clearinghouse can apply for domains that match their marks. The new domains available from later today are:
These seven Sunrise Periods will run until 24 January 2014.
More Sunrise Periods coming soon
The Clearinghouse provides a centralised list of all upcoming Sunrise Periods here. There is still time to record your registered trade marks in the Clearinghouse if you would like to participate in upcoming Sunrise Periods, but you will need to act quickly - it usually takes between 2-4 weeks to record your mark, and only then can you participate.
After each Sunrise Period, remaining marks in gTLD registries will be made available to the public, either on a first-come, first-served basis, by auction, or by some other means - the process for each registry will be decided by the registry owner. New dates for Sunrise Periods and general availability are likely to be announced frequently in coming months, sometimes with little notice. It would be wise to decide ahead of time which domain names you are interested in, so that you can act quickly when they become available.
