Treasury has made the Regulations that implement parts of the EU Short Selling Regulation (SSR) into UK law. The changes take effect from 1 November and repeal parts of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 that are not compatible with the SSR. The Regulations reflect the powers of FSA and ESMA as set out in the SSR. (Source: Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Short Selling) Regulations 2012)
