Appearing as a witness in an Employment Tribunal can be a nerve-wracking experience. In our latest podcast, Jillian Paton covers the topic of being a witness in an Employment Tribunal and provides practical tips and guidance.
The podcast provides a useful overview of the procedures witnesses can expect as well as some practical tips to consider in advance of the Hearing such as:-
- Familiarise yourself with the relevant documents in advance of the Hearing, especially as the events about which you are giving evidence may have taken place a significant amount of time ago;
- If possible, attend an Employment Tribunal in advance of the Hearing in which you are giving evidence in order to get used to the set up and style of questioning;
- Speak clearly, slowly and audibly. This helps the Tribunal make a clear and accurate record of your evidence; and
- Keep calm and only answer the question which is being asked.
