ESMA and EBA publish complaints handling guidelines: ESMA and EBA have published harmonised guidelines for consumer complaints handling, with the aim of ensuring consistent and streamlined procedures across the European Economic Area (EEA) for the securities and banking sectors. They based their guidelines on those EIOPA already developed for the insurance sector. The authorities hope the guidelines will allow consumers a similar method of handling complaints regardless of which financial product they buy and where. ESMA publishes annual report: ESMA's Annual Report for 2013 looks at its achievements against its objectives, with particular emphasis on some of its recently acquired responsibilities and its role in developing the single rulebook. LCH.Clearnet Ltd receives EMIR authorisation: ESMA has announced that, from 12 June, LCH.Clearnet Ltd is authorised to offer clearing services in accordance with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR).
