In accordance with the Administrative Measures for the Origin of Import and Export Goods under the China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations Free Trade Area (China-ASEAN FTA), effective from January 1 2011, the old format of the certificate of origin was replaced by a new format. On March 22 2011 the General Administration of Customs promulgated Announcement 19/2011 to clarify the validity period of the old version and the new version for all China-ASEAN FTA member countries, except Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar (for further details please see "ACFTA: use of movement certificates and certificates of origin").

As a follow-up to Announcement 19/2011, the General Administration of Customs promulgated Announcement 58/2011, which came into force on September 20 2011. Customs will accept old certificates issued before August 1 2011 and new certificates issued on or after August 1 2011 for goods originating from Cambodia and declared to Chinese Customs between August 1 2011 and November 30 2011. From December 1 2011, Customs will accept only the new version for goods originating from Cambodia.
