On April 16 2002 the Energy Regulatory Commission published a resolution that modifies the geographic zone of Bajío Norte for the purposes of natural gas distribution.
On October 4 2000 Gas Natural de México, SA de CV, which is the local distribution company in the geographic zone of Bajío Norte, filed a request that the zone be modified before the commission. The request proposed the expansion of the geographic zone of Bajío Norte in order to incorporate the municipality of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, which is located between the limits of the geographic zone of Bajío Norte and the geographic zone of Bajío. The new distribution system proposed by Gas Natural México will include the whole municipality of Lagos de Moreno, covering the limits of its population centre. The commission resolved to include the limits of the population centre as part of the Bajío Norte geographic zone. Likewise, the natural gas distribution permit granted to Gas Natural México for Bajío Norte has been modified to include the population centre of Lagos de Moreno.
