The association is a Category A member of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The association brings together companies and other business entities that are involved in the extraction, transmission and distribution of natural gas, petroleum and related products, as well as the generation and distribution of electricity.
The association has elected its first executive body and proposes to function with the intentions of:
- maintaining useful contacts;
- pursuing and promoting common benefits; and
- making representations before government and regulatory bodies concerning the formulation, amendment and repealing of relevant policies and measures.
The association has elected Aziz Khan as its first president, and Ajam J Chowdhury and Tajul Islam Faruque have been elected as vice presidents. Tanvir Nawaz Khan is the secretary general.
