US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reported that by November 14 2011 it had received 56,300 H-1B petitions for the 2012 fiscal year. Based on H-1B cap count data provided by USCIS on November 2 2011, it appears that the government received approximately 6,000 H-1B cap cases within a two-week period. At this rate, USCIS may reach the maximum quota of 65,000 H-1B visas within the next one to three weeks.
Therefore, companies which wish to sponsor a foreign national for the H-1B category who has not been counted against the H-1B cap in the last six years should take steps to file an H-1B petition for that foreign national immediately.
