Due to the rising number of occupational injuries in the construction industry, the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety has ordered construction patrol raids on construction sites. State inspectors from the construction supervision and boiler safety inspection unit will conduct inspections without prior warning. The decision to resume unannounced inspections represents a rapid response by the state supervisory agencies to the hazards that threaten the life and health of workers. Inspectors will have the authority to prohibit further work until the problems are remedied.

The forthcoming Euro 2012 football championships and the major infrastructure projects being undertaken for them have increased the need for adequate health and safety supervision in the construction sector. In order to establish safe working conditions at Euro 2012 construction sites, monitors from the state supervision organisation will be appointed for each site or group of sites. If a business entity repeatedly violates the conditions of its permits, or if fatal accidents occur as a result of failure to comply with such conditions, the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety will seek revocation of the entity's licences before the state licensing authorities.
