The Competition Authority published its 2010 annual bulletin in January 2011. The bulletin precedes its annual report and provides a first insight into the authority's activities for 2010. It appears to have been a profitable year for the authority with total fines of €137.1 million, including eight fines on individuals for competition law infringements. There was a significant boost in the total fine amount at the end of 2010 with the imposition of fines of €81.6 million for a cartel in the flour industry(1) and €17.75 million for a double-glazing cartel.(2) Concentration control proceeds amounted to €1.3 million. The authority also issued 11 reports on suspected violations, dealt with 17 complaints and decided on 83 concentration notifications during the year.
