UK CANNABIS INDUSTRY: MAXIMISING OPPORTUNITIES AND OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP

Description

Agenda: 5.30pm registration, 6pm seminar start, 8pm networking and drinks.

The worldwide interest in cannabis provides significant global opportunities for the biopharma and other industry sectors. Companies operating in health & wellness, agriculture and medicine, in addition to cannabis investors and producers (whether established companies or start–ups) must evolve their business models in a developing regulatory landscape.

We are delighted to have Anuj Desai of Europe’s leading cannabis industry podcast The Cannabis Conversation joining us, and also Dr Matt Brown and Joseph Colliver of Sativa Group, the first UK listed medicinal cannabis investment vehicle, in addition to Amanda Isom from the Cosmetic Toiletry & Perfumery Association (CTPA).  Anuj will provide an overview of the cannabis industry, followed by Matt giving a UK medical professional's view on the role of cannabis as a treatment and how Sativa Group has sought to interact with this area. Joseph will follow with the business challenges. Amanda will examine some of the issues faced by the cosmetics sector and provide guidance on how these can be addressed.

These perspectives will be framed by a discussion covering IP rights, regulatory law (including wellness and controlled drugs), and finance issues (including The Proceeds of Crime Act and cultivation of cannabis).
