Fintech in Denmark – market overview and regulatory highlights

Plesner Advokatpartnerselskab

Description

Denmark is often thought of as the ‘gateway to the Nordics’ for financial services – and with a relatively small but digitally savvy population, a high level of existing financial and public sector digitisation and a stable regulatory regime, it provides an ideal market to test, launch and scale fintech services. The Danish fintech scene is indeed thriving, not least on the basis of collaboration with established financial institutions and the support of a pro-fintech government policy.

In this webinar, we will discuss the overall layout of the Danish fintech sector, the relevant market participants and some of the business models that are succeeding in Denmark right now, before zooming in on some of the recent regulatory developments that are relevant to fintech.

Topics covered will include:

  • The main private and public sector market participants
  • The new fintech-friendly approach of the Danish regulator
  • What's hot on the Danish fintech scene
  • Cryptocurrency and initial coin offerings
  • Special restrictions on the use of payment data
  • A new act on consumer loan businesses
  • Recent anti-money laundering (AML) scandals and resulting changes to AML regulation
