Howards (No. 11-262), holding that two Secret Service agents were entitled to qualified immunity because, at the time they made an arrest, it was not clearly established that an arrest supported by probable cause could give rise to a First Amendment violation.

Supreme Court decides Coleman v. Johnson

USA - May 29 2012 On May 29, 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Coleman v. Johnson (No. 11-1053) in a per curiam opinion, reversing the Third Circuit's grant of habeas relief and holding that a federal court may grant habeas relief based on insufficient evidence supporting the conviction only if the state court decision is objectively unreasonable.

Supreme Court decides Holder v. Gutierrez and Holder v. Sawyers

USA - May 21 2012 On May 21, 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Holder v. Gutierrez (No. 10-1542) and Holder v. Sawyers (No. 10-1543), holding that the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) reasonably concluded that an alien must independently meet the statutory requirements codified at 8 U.S.C. § 1229b(a) to be eligible to obtain relief from the Attorney General from being deported out of the United States and may not impute the time during which his/her parent lawfully resided in the United States.
