The Competition Authority orders access providers to block access to a website under investigation

On 6 March 2012, the Italian Competition Authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato), which is authorised to investigate unfair commercial practices and misleading advertising vis-à-vis consumers, adopted a precautionary resolution by which (i) it ordered Private Outlet S.r.l., an online company selling clothes through various websites, to stop disseminating content of its websites for the entire duration of the investigation, and (ii) it ordered all internet access providers to block access to Private Outlet's websites
