Jonathan Hill, European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union has given a speech on issues that the European Commission is considering following its September 2015 call for evidence on the EU regulatory framework for financial services. The call for evidence forms part of the Commission's broader CMU initiative and was published in parallel with the CMU action plan. Lord Hill states that three themes are emerging from the responses: (i) lack of proportionality; (ii) impact on financing available to the wider economy; and (iii) high compliance burdens.  The Commission will publish a summary of the responses in April 2016.
