Having seen an upward trend in businesses recording meetings with employees, and employees wishing to do the same, the employment team at Penningtons Manches has recently undertaken a survey to find out how widespread the practice has become. The survey also aimed to find out more about whether businesses have made allowances for recorded meetings in their policies and procedures. Click here to see the areas covered.
So, to the results. Of the 43 businesses which responded, 37% reported that they have recorded meetings with employees. Of those meetings, disciplinaries were the most frequently recorded. A majority also reported that employees have either recorded, or have requested that they be allowed to record, meetings with their managers. Slightly surprisingly though, given the frequency of recordings or requests to record, three out of four businesses currently make no reference to the recording of meetings in their policies and procedures – food for thought.
