ESMA has published an opinion on common indicators for new products and services and significant changes to risk models under EMIR. The opinion defines a common supervisory approach for national competent authorities dealing with CCPs seeking to: (i) extend their existing authorisation to cover additional services or activities (Article 15); and (ii) adopt a significant change to their risk model and parameters (Article 49). EMIR neither defines the notion of "additional services or activities", nor that of "significant change" and ESMA has therefore adopted the opinion to ensure a more consistent application of Articles 15 and 49 of EMIR and transparency on the proposed common approach.
