The U.S. Census Bureau has released its Manufacturing and International Trade Report (MITR) containing 2012 data, available here. This report unveils a new system of matching import and export data to products by specified manufactured product class. The data are categorized by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) product code and use official U.S. import/export statistics. The report details the value of product shipments, the total export value of goods, the domestic export value of goods, and the values of general imports and imports for consumption for specified products.
The Census Bureau described this new tool as "a vital resource for businesses that conduct international trade," as it allows firms to track the trade activity of each specified product. The Census Bureau will continue to present trade data in future reports, including the 2013 MITR, which is scheduled for release in August 2015.
