A legislator has been arrested in relation to his role in an alleged cash-for-vote scam in 2008. Amar Singh has been accused of bribing three opposition lawmakers to support the Congress-led government in a significant confidence vote on a nuclear deal, which allowed India to access nuclear technology and cheap atomic energy in exchange for allowing the United Nations to inspect some of its nuclear facilities.
