The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) issued a November 2nd news release noting that the Arkansas Wastewater Licensing Committee (“Committee”) has scheduled a meeting for November 9th.

The Committee will meet at the ADEQ headquarters in North Little Rock at 10:00 a.m.

Wastewater treatment plants are required to have a licensed operator. The requirements for obtaining such licenses are found in Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission Regulation 3. The license requirements vary according to Classes (I, II, III, and IV) for municipal facilities and basic and advanced levels for industrial facilities. Qualification is obtained by completing approved training and passing an examination.

The Committee advises both ADEQ and the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission concerning administration of the state’s wastewater treatment plant operator training and licensing program.

Items on the Committee’s November 9th meeting agenda are stated to include:

  • Announcing of the financial and licensing issue reports
  • Reciprocity licensing requests
  • New training provider courses
