ESMA has published a letter from the Commission which asks ESMA to continue its analysis of the equivalence for the purposes of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) regimes of the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Canada, Isle of Man, Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Australia by 30 June 2016. The Commission also agreed ESMA should provide it with a further opinion on the functioning of the passport and the National Private Placement Regimes once the AIFMD has been fully implemented.
