- On August 9, 2012, Senator John “Jay” Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, released a statement praising the FTC settlement with Google (see FTC and Privacy Regulation above). He stated that “it is imperative that the FTC continues to make sure that individual companies abide by the promises they make about consumers’ privacy.
