It has been announced that 38 international companies have qualified to submit bids for the Green Corridor project to increase the country’s national grid capacity.
The project will allow the grid to carry an additional 1GW, and it is aimed to be operational by the end of 2018. The total investment for the project will be $170 million dollars, with the European Investment Bank extending a $72 million loan towards the financing. The French Development Agency and the National Electric Power Company are also involved in the financing.
This project is of particular relevance as it will allow for the new renewable energy capacity installed and to be installed in Jordan to be absorbed by the grid.
