This week has seen the Localism Bill clear the report stage and Third Reading in the House of Commons. It is now with the Lords for further consideration having had the First Reading today and the Second Reading being scheduled for 7 June 2011.
Unsurprisingly, the Bill has not had a smooth ride through the Commons and has been subject to several amendments (some comments on these amendments are already available on the Plan-it Law blog). A re-print of the bill should be available next week when we shall look more closely at how the Localism Bill has evolved since its first introduction into Parliament. Mr Pickles will also be publishing the draft National Planning Policy Framework for consultation next week which should provide some interesting bedtime reading...
