The Council of the EU has published the minutes of a meeting held in its configuration as the Economic and Financial Affairs Council.  At the meeting, the Council confirmed and minuted its decision not to object to certain proposed delegated legislation supplementing MiFID II Directive, this legislation being that related to: (i) organisational requirements and operating conditions for investment firms and defined terms, which had been adopted by the EC on 25 April 2016; and (ii) the safeguarding of financial instruments and funds belonging to clients, product governance obligations and the rules applicable to the provision or reception of fees, commissions or any monetary or non-monetary benefits, which had been adopted by the EC on 7 April 2016.  This legislation can now enter into force unless the European Parliament objects.
