Since 1 August 2016, a so-called electronic mailbox is an obligation for every Slovak company. Upon a first login or alternatively on 31 December 2016 it is activated automatically. The electronic mailbox is embedded within the Central Portal of the Public Administration (www.slovensko.sk).

From 01 January 2017 all submissions/filings and official documents from public authorities will be solely delivered into the electronic mailbox. Such delivery will have the same legal implications like a postal delivery.

Only the statutory body/member of the company or a person authorized by him/her (e.g. an attorney) will be granted access to the electronic mailbox. Access requires (i.) a Slovak ID card with an electronic chip (eID card) and an activated online eID function, (ii.) a special card reader and (iii.) the installation of the appropriate software.
