Spanish Parliament amends the Code of Civil Procedure and implements the use of communications technology in justice administration proceedings On 6 October 2015, an amendment to the Spanish Code of Civil Procedure was adopted. One of the main objectives of such amendment is " to enhance the relevance of and to ensure the widespread use of telematics or electronic means, giving subsidiarity to paper support". From 1 January 2016, all professionals of justice are obliged to use the telematics systems at the disposal of the Administration of Justice with reference to written submissions and procedural communications, providing the competent administration the necessary means to this extent. The aim of such reform is to achieve greater speed and efficacy in the processing of judicial procedures as well as to enable cost saving measures to the state and citizens through the use of telematics and electronic means.
