The European Commission has published a call for evidence on the EU regulatory framework for financial services, seeking feedback and evidence on the benefits, unintended effects, consistency and coherence of the financial legislation adopted in response to the financial crisis. More specifically feedback is sought on the rules affecting the ability of the economy to finance itself and grow, unnecessary regulatory burdens, interactions of individual rules, inconsistences and gaps, and rules giving rise to possible other unintended consequences. The deadline to respond is 6 January 2016 (responses can be submitted online). The Commission intends to produce a report with its findings by mid-2016.
