Changes to the Canada Labour Code took effect. Among the changes are a new 6-month limitation period for filing a claim for unpaid wages and a cap on the amount of wages that can be awarded (ss. 251.01-251.1), the enactment of review and appeal procedures (ss. 251.101-251.12) and the creation of a 30-day period within which vacation pay is to be paid to a departing employee vs. the prior requirement to pay “forthwith” (s. 188).
