Key Industry groups representing the media and telecommunications heavyweights have apparently prepared a submission that is highly critical of Cyber Security reforms that the government intends on passing by the end of this year.
The proposed reforms cover a range of measures aimed at improving cyber security, but also includes controversial expansions of power to government agencies. Significantly, the reforms also include proposed mandatory data breach notifications.
It is reported that the Australian Industry Group, Australian Information Industry Association, and the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association and Communications Alliance have opposed the proposed reforms and allegedly labelled them overly invasive and lacking transparency.
We will report further once we obtain a copy of the draft submission.
