The Pensions Ombudsman has issued guidance on the approach he will take towards making awards for non-financial injustice, such as distress and inconvenience, caused by maladministration. If the non-financial injustice is not significant, it is likely that no award will be made.  In most cases where an award is made, it is likely to be within the £500 to £1000 range, but higher awards are possible.  When considering whether to make an award, the Ombudsman will take into account any compensation already paid before the matter reached him.
