Less than two years after Governor John Kasich appointed Andre Porter, then a Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) member, to be the Ohio Department of Commerce Director, the governor has “returned the young attorney to the PUCO,” reports Gongwer Ohio. Porter will take over the seat “currently held by Commissioner Steven Lesser,” which expires April 11, 2015; Lesser was appointed to a five-year term by then-Governor Ted Strickland in 2010. Lesser had applied for reappointment to the five-member panel, which regulates the state’s public utilities. His departure will mark “the first time in years that no Democrat will sit” on the PUCO.
