The European Commission has authorised, under EC Treaty State aid rules, €40.6 million of aid, which the German authorities intend to grant to Hamburger Spremberg, belonging to the Austrian Prinzhorn Holding, for the construction of a paper mill in Spremberg, Brandenburg-Südwest region. The Commission's assessment found the measure to be compatible with the requirements of the Regional Aid Guidelines 2007-2013. In particular, the project, involving total investments of €250 million by Hamburger, will significantly contribute to the development of the region's economy without unduly distorting competition.
