According to WIPO’s statistics, Chinese applicants have filed 1,827 Madrid TM international registration applications in the early half of 2016, marking a year-on-year growth of 140%. The Madrid system is a “green passage” for Chinese companies to register their TMs in international market, and thus is essential for the “go global” of China’s brands. In 2015, Chinese domestic applicants filed a record high of 2,321 international TM applications through the Madrid system. Since the start of this year, the International Registration Department of CTO has been improving their work flows and services so as to facilitate the international TM registration.
