FSCP has published a position paper on platforms in the context of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR). It says it is essential to eliminate bias in the retail markets and that market developments must benefit consumers. It does not agree that fund managers and other product providers should be allowed to give rebates to platforms and that all services should be charged for separately, directly paid by the consumer and that none should have a higher profile on platforms because of arrangements between providers and platform operators. It published research carried out on its behalf looking at the impact of FSA’s proposals on consumer outcomes.
