BIS has published the UK Government's response to the Commission's consultation on the Single Market Act. On financial services, it wants to see increased competition. It notes the Commission must ensure it resists discrimination and protectionism within and outside the single market and gives the proposed Regulation on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories (EMIR) as an example. Finally, it says increased transparency must be common in all financial services dossiers. (Source: UK Government Response: European Commission Consultation on the Single Market Act)
