The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform recently released its 2015 Lawsuit Climate Survey (also known as the list of the worst places in America to get sued). As always, Delaware was ranked as the most favorable forum overall, while West Virginia was ranked last. Ohio held its ground in the middle of the pack, coming in at number 27 — faring just a little better than it did in the 2012 report, where it was ranked at 30. According to the survey results, Ohio’s biggest problem is in the “Timeliness of Summary Judgement or Dismissal” category, ranking at 33. While this report is a great starting place for plaintiffs and defendants, nothing is a substitute for knowledgeable local counsel.
