After extensive consultation, the much anticipated Planning and Development Bill 2014 (PD Bill) and the Planning and Environment Court Bill 2014 (PEC Bill) were introduced into Parliament on 25 November 2014. The Bills are the final plank in an extensive raft of planning and development reforms made by the Newman government since coming into office.
Members of HopgoodGanim’s Planning and Development Team were involved in the consultation process for both the PD Bill and the PEC Bill both on behalf of industry associations and in a personal capacity, and have intrinsic knowledge of the issues relevant to stakeholders and the industry alike. A recent alert by Partner David Nicholls discusses the key aspects of the Bills.
The PD Bill and PEC Bill have now been referred to the Parliamentary State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Committee where they will be considered before they can be passed by Parliament.
