The Harper Review Final Report, which recommends wide-reaching changes to the regulation of competition in Australia, was released on 31 March 2015. Treasury has called for public submissions on the Final Report by 26 May 2015 and we will continue to monitor its progress.
On 31 March 2015, the Competition Review Panel released its Final Report recommending wide-reaching changes to competition laws, the institutions that enforce them and the competition policy landscape.
The Report traverses a broad range of industry-specific considerations as well as the detail of theCompetition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (CCA) and the role of key regulators such as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, with implications for all areas of the economy.
