The BILE-AKA, BRIZOUA-BI & ASSOCIES law firm, in partnership with the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d'Ivoire (Confédération Générale des Entreprises de Côte d’Ivoire) (CGECI), has created the “Trust in the Judiciary” Index (Indice de Confiance Judiciaire, ICJ).

The ICJ is an annual index, which shall take the form of a questionnaire to be filled in by economic agents. The aim of the questionnaire is to get the economic agents’ opinion on their level of confidence in the judicial system in Côte d’Ivoire.

The index has been created within the context of the efforts made by the authorities of Côte d’Ivoire in the aim of improving the business climate, and of the willingness to offer more security and predictability to the economic agents of the private sector, who are often foreigners. To that end, the ICJ shall make it possible for actors of the private sector to assess the judicial system. This innovative tool shall eventually enable the State to conduct targeted reforms to improve the operation of the judicial system and strengthen the latter’s credibility in the eyes of the private sector’s agents.
