EBA has published a report on the evolution of lending trends and conditions for SMEs, the effective riskiness of EU SMEs over a full economic cycle and the consistency of own funds requirements for credit risk on exposures to SMEs. It considers the effect of the SME Supporting Factor, aimed at ensuring an adequate flow of credit and increased lending to SMEs. EBA concludes there is currently no evidence to suggest the SME Supporting Factor has had any impact on lending to SMEs. But it says there is not enough data available yet to draw a firm conclusion.
