In a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington D.C. on Wednesday 29 June 2016, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström stressed that the rationale for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (“TTIP”) remains strong despite Brexit.

Cecilia Malmström also noted that negotiations are moving forward with the ambition to conclude during the current US presidential administration and emphasized that the results of the UK referendum on its membership of the EU has not affected the reasons for why trade across the Atlantic should be made easier.
