After receiving repeated complaints, the Group Alibaba submitted a letter to the US Trade Representative in order to underline its current proactive fight against counterfeits. The e-commerce company stated that it took down 380 million product listings, closed about 180,000 Taobao stores and about 675 production, storage, or sales operations of counterfeit products. The group also highlighted that it has “tightened policies against copyright infringements and made it easier for brands to issue complaints and request removal of counterfeit items on its platforms.”

NOTE: getting a better reputation and winning the trust of foreign brand would strongly help Alibaba to extend outside of China.
